Solved: T42: Fan Error. No voltage from motherboard socket

The old fan in my T42 suddenly stopped spinning. I tried installing a new one, but it also didn't spin, so I checked the socket on the motherboard. It should measure ~5 volts at startup, but it looks like it isn't outputting any volts whatsoever.

Update: I just solved the problem. It's a blown fuse, specifically the F4 fuse.

My fan won't spin intermittently, which leads me to believe it isn't a fuse. Is there a temperature sensor that can go bad or a relay that could work intermittently? I've tried replacing the fan. More often than not, it won't boot with fan error now. I take it these fuses must be unsolder-ed and soldered back on?

Replacement fuses can be soldered piggyback-style on top of the old one.
Next time you need a fan (or other part), don't try Malaysia but our Market forum.
At least you will get a properly working fan from a trusted seller.

I've ordered from another Amazon reseller :/
The first did end up refunding me although he wanted me to pay shipping to return the dead fan, which I refused to do.
The new fan is a lot spiffier lookin' and works well and silently.

Had a older T-23 with a fan issue. No +5v on the fan input. I ran a small wire from another good +5v source on the MB and soldered to to the fan input. The fan runs all the time but who cares...
