2378EXU Custom order shipping time?

#1 Post by albtrssp » Tue Jun 15, 2004 6:58 pm

I ordered a 2378EXU back on 5/25, and the order just keeps saying "2-4 weeks". I was wondering if anyone had experience on how long this model takes to ship.

I didn't order it barebones - I customized it quite a bit, since I wanted internal bluetooth and a Cisco wireless mini-PCI card. I keep seeing everyone ordering DXU's getting them in a few days after ordering them, and I'm jealous... :-)

Thanks,

I don't know if this will help, but I ordered a 2378-FVU (also a thinkpad express model). Ordered on the 2nd or 3rd and had it delivered yesterday. I'll be getting it tomorrow (I had it sent to my computer reseller since I wasn't sure I'd be home). It wasn't that customized though, just some extra RAM.

See my earlier post. Sounds like we're both in the same boat. Nothing to do but wait at this point... if the bluetooth causes any additional delays I may ditch it - I really just ordered it as a curiosity anyway.

I'm waiting too ... a custom 2378EXU
I ordered mine on 5/28.
My ship date was 8/9 until I called to add on bluetooth. Then my order status looked like this:
http://www.humpa.com/Humpa_Order.htm
(It shows the individual dates for the different components if anyone is interested.)

It stayed like that for a few days. Now it shows July 4th.

Giving up

I finally managed to get them to tell me my order # so I could track it on the *other* order tracking page (how confusing could they possibly make their page?), and it says it's shipping on 7/1. I decided that it would be cheaper to get the 2378FVU, and add a bluetooth modem and 7200 RPM hard drive. It has a 14" screen instead of a 15", but that's actually a plus for me; I'd rather have the smaller size and weight, and the resolution is the same.

Plus the 2378 is coming tomorrow.

Humpa, you can add on a bluetooth card to a lot of the models, I ordered part # 91P7319, and I'll put it in myself.

albtrssp, I thought about getting one of the express models. And I've also thought about going with the 14.1".
So many decisions ... ; )

I've read that thread about adding bluetooth before, too. But I decided I wanted it, so I might as well get it built with it.

I have a couple of pc's and a working thinkpad, so I am in no rush for my T42 (Hurry up!)
