Just bought a T41 (2373-9HU). Not my first choice, but at the price I got it for, all of this is just nitpicking:
-not Dothan
-only 802.11b wi-fi
-would have preferred R9600 or FireGL to the R9000 in this one
-16/10/24/8x combo drive as opposed to 24/24/24/8x
-no firewire (though the T42s don't have it either)
Everything else is EXACTLY as I wanted... Well, the 1GB of RAM is kind of overkill, but this was closest config I could find.
My question is: will I get the good screen (manufactured by Samsung) or the older crappier screen (manufactured by IBM's subdivision)? This is the 14.1" SXGA+ 1400x1050.
Also, is there ANY way I can somehow get a non-IBM wi-fi card inthe miniPCI slot? IBM charges a premium...
I also bought a $99 CDN accessories bundle that includes a travel optical mice, lock, carrying case, and extra AC adapter. Not sure whether this was a good deal or not, but I heard a lock is pretty expensive by itself. Any idea what carrying case this would come with? Nylon? Leather?
That's all the anxious questions I have for now... Probably will have more later. I can't wait!

Woohoo! I will be joining the ThinkPad club soon!
All the models listed were older tech, if that helps. Have you received your Order Reference Number yet? I ordered an X31 this morning too, and I have no idea how long it will take to go through.
You can order an IBM a/b/g for about $110 CAD; is that really that expensive? I'm getting the same card as you but I'm also thinking about trading up to the Atheros model.

Congratulations on your purchase. Hard to say about the screen. Just sit it next to a non-IBM laptop and compare.ClayMan wrote: My question is: will I get the good screen (manufactured by Samsung) or the older crappier screen (manufactured by IBM's subdivision)? This is the 14.1" SXGA+ 1400x1050.

Unfortunately, you have to buy an IBM version mini PCI wireless card. Non-IBM versions will prevent your computer from booting up. The IBM version Intel 2200BG is only about $60 US.

Hmm, well I'm just a university student and I wasn't supposed to buy myself a new laptop until the end of this year, but I my impulsive consumerism made me jump the gun on this deal. So in a way, I'm buying with money I don't have yet.
I guess I'll wait and see how popular the g frequency is at the places I go; the thing is I've heard bad stories about the range/reception of the B card...
