14.1" T42 with XGA

#1 Post by aamsel » Fri Jun 18, 2004 1:03 am

I have decided that I want a notebook with plain-old XGA.
I didn't see any T42's on the IBM site with XGA and Radeon 7500?? The closest I saw was a T41 (2379DKU) with the old (short) fan. Are there any similar T42's ???

Also, do you know the manufacturer of the 14.1" XGA panel for the T41 (and/or T42 if there is one available) ???

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

There are several T42 models with 14.1" XGA and ATI Radeon 7500. Check out the tabook for details.

I'm going to sound like a heretic here - but...

If you are willing to settle for 14.1" XGA - the Gateway 200XL is quite nice and both thinner and smaller than a T42. Integrated graphics ala X40 - which is a performance hit - but if I could give up the pixels - I would consider it.

He could also go for an X31.. !

I don't see the point of having a bigger screen, if the resolution is no larger than on a much smaller one anyways.. unless your eyesight is in bad shape.

X40 i ordered recently has shipped..
based on that, not much of a backlog on those, i think..
