Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
I've been trying to pin mod my T43 and its just not working. I've done it before on other computers and I know I'm doing it right, but it wont bump up to 533mhz. Any ideas?
I've tried all CPU's in my arsenal 1.5, 1.7, 1.8, 2.0, 2.1, they all run fine at stock speeds, but nothing above. I mean, even if they aren't stable, they should at least show up in bios, or not boot at all. I primed them and they're all stable.

It's quite surprising he 1.5Ghz one doesn't work, with the others it's completely random if they'll post or not.
Don't expect any 1.8GHz+ CPU to work when pin modded, if it does it'll run HOOOOOT.
Check how well your CPU's undervolt, if it undervolts well, it overclocks well.
A CPU that can run 800MHz at 0.7v will be a good contender.

I think you misunderstand me. They all post, but at 400mhz. Doesn't matter of I pinmodded or not. And I'm [censored] sure the wire connects. The computer boots up fine, and its stable. Rock solid. Only it runs at 400mhz.Adda wrote:It's quite surprising he 1.5Ghz one doesn't work, with the others it's completely random if they'll post or not.

Bottom line, even with the pinmod, all cpus boot at stock speeds.
As for 1.8ghz+, both my 755 and 765 undervolt superbly. Almost abnormally so. Though I'm not putting much effort in the 765, but I might just pull off a pinmod with the 755.

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43)
Strange... Now it works. Flashed the modded bios to get rid of the 1802/2010 errors and once i rebooted the CPU (735) was running at 2.26ghz. Primed it for roughly an hour and it seems stable. Swapped out the CPU, it boots to Win7 with the PM745 (2.4Ghz) but it crashed before confirm the speed with CPU-Z. Probably have to up the voltage a bit. I know next to nothing about this cpu. Only had it for a few days. Haven't had time to put it though its paces. The 735 is most likely rock solid.
I'd go for the 755, but even with the modified cooling, I don't think it can pull off a voltage that's cool enough for the T43. Still, 2.6ghz would be epic...
EDIT1: PM 745 @ 2.4 GHZ, just passed the magic 42 minute barrier in prime95. Temps are so far tolerable 65-70 celsius. Running with 1.372v. (first attempt)
EDIT2: lowered voltage 1.356v
EDIT3: raised voltage. 1.372v. I think this will be stable. Or at the most 1.388v. Temps are manageable. 70 Celsius after one hour of prime95.
Btw: PM-755 needs 1.420v to post and 1.452v to boot into windows. Haven't tested anything above that. From those results, I'd wager I'd need at least 1.612v to even POST with the PM-765. And that's not counting that the 765 runs on about 15 degrees hotter than the 745 on stock speeds. It would easily break the 100c barrier with that voltage.
EDIT4: Its stable at 1.372v and 2.4 Ghz for over four hours. Though once I screwed it back together and it couldn't draw extra air through the cracks, the temps jumped up quite a bit. I don't think I'll keep it the 745 in the long run. Its too hot. However I'm attempting a pretty brutal undervolt right now that might keep the temps under control.

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
I know this is an old post but do you think I can still have PAE and NX after the pinmod which means does this pinmod work under Windows 8/8.1/10?

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
Just in case: even though the posts claimed they were about a T43, it must have been a T42.
No T43 will run with any of those mentioned 735/745/755/765 CPUs, those are for T40/T41/T42.
Besides, T43 already runs natively at 533MHz...
(I never read that thread before, otherwise I would have objected earlier)

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
Well after pinmod my Pentium M 735 does run on my T43 a regular speed but it does not boot Windows 10 because of the lack of NX therefore i don't appreciate it...

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
Why would anybody want to DOWNgrade from 533MHz to 400MHz?
Doesn't make sense to me, except if you can't afford T43 CPUs, or happen to have such a 400MHz CPU gathering dust...

Re: Why wont it pinmod? (T43) // and pinmod attempts
Pinmod is supposed to overclock it but unfortunately it still does NOT support NX ...
