T43p Update

#1 Post by JHEM » Tue May 24, 2005 8:48 pm

I have it from the horse's lips today that you will all have your T43p units within two weeks. Some sooner, but none longer.

Allegedly, the "official" release to market date on these units is tomorrow and always has been, regardless of what was posted on the website or you may have been told by a rep.

If anyone wants to know the exact status of their order, PM me your order no. and I'll attempt to find out based on an offer I received today to perform the search.

I challenged a senior executive from IBM/Lenovo in a meeting today to put me in touch with anyone who had a 15" UXGA T43p who wasn't an employee or a member of the press after he expressed surprise at my statement that no one had one yet. He came up dry after 10 minutes on the phone.

Looks like the 15' UXGA is really the delaying issue. But I really need the real estate it brings ......

Why everyone get the E4U instead the EJU. I saw only $40 difference but you got a fingerprint reader.

Mine is 2000, before tax and shipping.

I selected the "2 business days shipping", but looks like it is a waste of money, since free shipping from IBM is also "2 business days"! Can I change the shipping method?

Hehehe... just checked my order status, my 1 month and 3 week old order status of CTO T43p 15" is still "Packing". The CTO may take a little longer after all.

Doltan,

Can you open a new thread to review this Long Time Waiting item?

I would like to open a thread to share my experience about the CTO after I received the Laptop.

Here is the update for mine: ( I called at 6am PST, May 26, 2005 )

"You order is backordered, it will be in stock three weeks after your order date (which is May 21, 2005), then we need to assemble it and ship it to you."

So my guess is four weeks after my order date, I hope it will ship at the end of June. :!:

Hi Doltan, is your model 2668-H3A or 2668-H3U or something else, as
I don't see a 2668-H3A in TABOOK or in CTO category?

To those who have sent me their order numbers, thanks. I've forwarded them to the gentleman who had offered to check the status of your orders and I hope to hear from him soon.

However, I'm leaving tomorrow for Kent Island to attend my son's wedding on Sunday and will be gone all of next week. Hopefully I'll be able to check my mail occasionally during that time, but there's no guarantee I'll have the time so I may not be able to report his findings until next weekend.

The 2668-H3A is same as 2668-H3U, as far as I can tell from the specs. I think the A stands for Asia.
Just checked my status, my 2668-H3A has been shipped out from HK. 2 hr flight to pop over, supposed to have reached S'pore this afternoon 1300 Very Happy

I dunno whether to  or  when I check my status today. Seems like the T43p has cleared custom :D but I am now waiting for my laptop BAG! What's more, the bag also ships out from Hong Kong, 1 day later, to TAIWAN, which is the opposite direction, then to Singapore! Shd have reached S'pore by now, and maybe can expect them to send everything over to me by tomorrow

What's worse, I will be out of Singapore over the weekend. Sigh, guess it will be next wk till I get it then..

Congratulations!

Maybe you are the first one to get 15'' UXGA T43p, except IBM employee and other IBM partners.

Waiting for your report.

First time charge is normally overnight, but it really doesn't matter. Enjoy!

T43P, 15", Fingerprint (2668-H2U) arriving tomorrow!

#28 Post by sprior » Mon May 30, 2005 6:49 pm

IBM told me that I was the second order ever for a T43P back in January so I should be the first (almost) to receive this unit, and suddenly last week it went from no estimated date to shipped. According to UPS it is nearby and will be delivered tomorrow by 10:30am. I'm now crossing my fingers that it doesn't have any dead pixels because the price went up by almost $500 if I had to return it and buy another one. I'm sooooo psyched to finally get the new machine!

UPS just notified me that my 15" T43p will arrive tomorrow morning! I also agree that I hope all is well 'cause my price went up $850 over what I paid. I guess these price increases are Lenovo's way of preventing those "one bad pixel" returns?

Hey, since these are in such demand I wonder what folks who haven't ordered and are waiting months yet would pay for one? I guess we'll find out soon when the 1st wave hits ebay this week, huh? 'Could break the $4K barrier. Makes me glad I didn't wait (even though I still can't figure out why the hell I really needed one of these 15" T43p's in the 1st place!).
