Advice on the IBM T41 1373-1FM

#1 Post by reaxion » Mon Jun 21, 2004 7:28 am

T41 PM-1.4GHz, 256MB, 30GB, 14.1XGA, 802.11B, Combo, Graphics Chipset ATI Mobility RADEON M7-CSP32, Integrated Intel PRO/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ... the rest is pretty much standard

A few questions:

1. is 30 GB too small for a laptop?
2. Is 802.11G really needed? (I dont tranfer many files across networks)
3. Whats the GFX card like? Will be be able to handle most games? I wont be using this rig to mainly play games, but i'd like to occasionally use it for recreational purposes.
4. What is the IBM security slot?

Any other general pointers would be great.

Cheers.
Alex

1. It should be fine unless you are going to store a large music/video collection.
2. Should be OK for web surfing if your 802.11b access point isn't sharing its bandwidth with lots of other folks. But you know what they say - once you've had "G" you'll never go back!
3. This is not a 3D gaming computer. The Radeon 7500 is several generations old and will not play most modern games.
4. ??? Do you mean the little Kensington lock hole on the side ???
