Who has a rework station to fix 4 tiny SMD parts on T43p motherboard

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Mon Oct 03, 2016 11:41 am

Last year, during one of my last SATA-mods, 4 tiny SMD parts got dislocated on a brand new T43p motherboard.
They are on the left side of the SATA-chip, which is/was located under the wifi-card.
I have a T43 parts-mobo, from which these 4 parts could be transferred, to fix the SATA-mod.
In this picture you can see the Before/Left and After/Right: http://imgur.com/a/qTu4r

The rest of the SATA-mod has been completed, only those 4 SMD bits needs fixing!

How much would it cost to have this fixed?

I might also be willing to sell both motherboards to someone who is looking for a SATA-mod.
Price to be discussed.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

I have a rework station at work and it gets used for many "government" jobs during lunch breaks.

The worst part of this transfer of parts is the decimated pad on the left side of the bottom component. The trace that was removed must be re-created. Fortunately, there is a fragment of the via hole left that would need to be utilized to make that connection.

Please look on the other side of the board and tell me what components are there. Component density in that area could be a factor.
Also - the component location under the damaged one appears to ave a solder bridge. Should that be there?

Joe

@joester:
Joe, you made my day, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Removing that [unwanted] solder bridge fixed it!
It falsely connected [some VDD power?] to chip pin 46, H_PDIAG_N which goes to VSS = Ground.

After the SATA-PATA bridge chip 88SA8040 was removed, some components obviously are no longer required either.
From top to bottom the missing parts were:
Resistor 1K, 1/16W, 5% (R571) chip-pin 36
Resistor 1K, 1/16W, 5% (R572) chip pin 39
Capacitor 0.1uF, 10V, 10% (C994) chip pin 41, VDD Core power
Capacitor 0.1uF, 10V, 10% (C995) chip pin 44, VDD IO power

So, now I can gather up all the other parts for this machine and build my very last SATA-modded T43/P with a brand new motherboard!
It will also get my last new 15" Sharp UXGA screen!
WOW!

For the record:
due to advancing age, my eyesight -even with a 15x magnifier- no longer allows me to do these SATA-mods.
That's why I had to stop doing them.
