T42p LCD problem
T42p LCD problem
Hello All...
I am in the middle of my first international trip with my T42p (2379DYU) and I've run into somewhat of a disturbing LCD problem.
Essentially, over the past day or so if I close a window that's open over my desktop which is for the most part dark blue/ black, there's a very obvious ghost of the window left behind and fades after maybe 2 seconds.
I've never experienced this thus far. This is not a 'within spec pixel response' matter because my mouse pointer is not leaving such obvious trails.
I've tried shutting down, leaving the machine unused for a few hours, checking the refresh frequency (60Hz), etc. Nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Ghosting problem on T42 SXGA lcd
Hi I am getting the same ghosting problem, I am seeing the same problem of a ghost image (red) in color even on the initial boot up screen. It is happening mostly across the top one inch and the bottom one inch of the screenbut sometimes in the middle of the screen also especially on the initial bootup screen .....
I called IBM and he stated that the LCD is cold and slow in responding .... i agree to differ as i am in LosAngeles California..... not cold at all
.... I love the Thinkpad ... performs great I got the default config to reduce the ship time.... and now this problem
Any ideas.....
Would really appreciate any ideas or help

I have/had the same problem mbashir is having. If I switch from a white or red screen immediately to a black screen, there are traces of red on the black screen, what I called "hundreds of stuck red pixels" that fade within 5 seconds. If I switch from a red screen to another color and then to black, the red traces don't appear.
The problem looked bad when I first got my T41 14.1" SXGA+ screen, but five month later the problem isn't as severe and is almost gone.
