ATI 9600/Fire GL2 Drivers 2379DYU

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking and soaking up the knowledge from this group for a while now and ended up buying a 2379DYU. I have to say that I love it except for two things.

1. I can't seem to put the 9600 drivers on my notebook. The Fire GL2 is working well but I know you should be able to get boost of around 10% with the standard drivers as opposed to the FIRE GL 2 drivers. I have read that ppl are able to install the standard drivers, but know has said how they did it. Any help, or info is appreciatted.

2. The hard drive speed of 5400 rpm on the 80 gig drive is far from great. I am not sure how much better the performance would be with a 7200 rpm drive but for such a powerful machine, the hard drive is huge bottleneck when running games. I am running UT 2004, and Far cry along with a few other games, and on all of them the hard drive read speed seems to be the main bottle neck.

Besides these things which I can probably live with its a great machine and I don't think that I could have pssibly got anything better for my needs without going much bigger and heavier.

P.S. would getting a second HD (7200 rpm) and installing games on that improve the performance much?

You need to use the mobility modder and the standard ATI driver together. You can also use the Omega driver (already includes the complete ATI driver).
