Access IBM software for T42

#1 Post by tirant » Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:22 pm

Hello,

In my old T23 I used to have an IBM Information & Configuration Software when I pressed the "Thinkpad" button.

I got a T42 recently with a fresh XP SP2 installation. I have been looking for similar software for my new T42 but found nothing. Any idea where could it be?

I installed it, but it doesn't work. When I press the Access IBM key, it brings out an screen with a Thinkpad animation and then some buttons on the top of screen, but I'm unable to click on them, they don't seem to work :(

The problem is .... the Adobe Flash Player plugin - Active X.
To fix it, you need to download the uninstaller from Adobe's site - ver 4.0.0.8, (and only that uninstaller works), close all open programs & browser, run the uninstaller, then uninstall Access IBM from the control panel.
Restart windows & install Access Ibm, it should now work and will until you do an update and the flash player is reinstalled.

Of course, now you cannot watch any video in your browser that requires the Adobe plugin. I doubt there is a fix in the works.

Update: I have it working with Adobe Flash Player Active X ver 9.0.124.0 Running IE7 & media player 11 also.
Access Ibm functions normally with that flash player installed.
