which is better for the battery?
which is better for the battery?
hi,
i own a t42. i usually use my laptop plugged into ac. sometimes, the battery gauge reads 99%, and it just stays there without recharging back upto 100%. now, here's the problem. i would like have my battery stay at its tip-top shape (i am aware that time would eventually bring down the capacity level).
if so,
1) should i bring the battery level back up 100%, whenever i see some drainage, that is whenever the battery gauge reads 99%? i usually do this by bringin down the level to 97% by unplugging the ac adaptor so that the automatic charging would kick in and bring the level back up to 100%
2) or should i just leave it be at 99%? by doing this, i think the battery level would drop eventually to 98% level and then to 97% level at which time the automatic charging would kick in.
i don't know why there is a drop in battery gauge percentage since i use my laptop always plugged in. i'm not that much concerned as to why it does that, but i would like to receive some suggestions on which choice would be "good" for the battery, choice 1) or choice 2)
thanks in advance

I use a T42p. It's the thing. i don't know why but I think it's OK. You can solve the problem by using battery power once time, and then recharge it. it will go to 100% battery gauge. I found if use battery power just a few minutes when battery gauge reads above 97%, and recharge it. it will remain in 97%, not 100%.

thank you leon.
i also don't see it as a problem. it's just that i was wondering whether or not to bring the battery level back up to 100%. right now, i'm just leaving my battery level at 99%, to follow your suggestion.
i guess it's better (in terms of performance and lifespan) for the battery if one were to leave the battery level alone until the automatic recharging kicks in, at 97%.
one thing though, i am kind of skeptical of the idea that some default settings/pre-settings are optimal for the performance and/or lifespan of a computer. mainly because performance and lifespan depends on the user's preference, and the factory settings might have been configured for the average/median user. just a personal thought.

Why is my P1 Gen 7 so much better on battery? Cool, quiet, fast — but not on AC.
