360PE 1995 pen tablet laptop

#1 Post by hwattys » Sun Nov 09, 2014 2:59 pm

This is probably my second rarest Thinkpad: a 360PE. It has a 486/50 CPU, a 3 gig hard drive (added by me-not original equipment), a 9.5 inch 256 color DSTN rotating screen with a digitizer, stylus (pen), floppy drive, and early version Thinkpad sound (pre-mWave). I know there was a guy on eBay asking a crazy amount for one of these. Mine is in nearly perfect shape except the side floppy cover is missing and the battery is obviously dead. Running Windows 95 with Pen Services installed.

I just sold my 360P and 750P. Do you know what the distinction is between the P and PE?

Definately one cool machine.
Way ahead of its time, I would definately love to get one of em when the time is right!

Would you value yours at $200K?
I'd say its in better condition than that one, the screen doesn't have any flaws.

That is sweet. Mine is almost but not quite that nice.....other than the missing side plate which I am sure I can never find.

That is the most wonderful thing I have ever seen!! Does it have enough power to use on the internet, if you avoid videos?

I love the looks of fat thinkpads with very thick screen bezels. The pen makes it so much nicer.

Thanks for posting these. This is one of those rare birds I will probably never get the chance to own myself, so it's nice to at least see pictures them.

That's a lot of money tied up there btw, if we go by the guy who tried to sell one of these on eBay for $150 000. Or was it more? The auction is gone now, so I guess he still has it.

I was lucky enough to pay very little for that 360PE (which came bundled with a 750C)

Ummmm....collect them. They really have no practical use.
