PC300GL turns on by itself 5 mins after being plugged in

#1 Post by leoblob » Tue Mar 27, 2007 10:39 am

I do believe the power supply in one of my 300GL's is no good. The weird thing is, I plug it in, and after about 5 minutes, it will start up all by itself. It hangs (doesn't even go into the BIOS screen), but that's as far as it gets.

Using the on/off button doesn't have any effect on the "delayed start" phenomena. (and it still won't boot).

If I hold in the on/off button to "re-set" it, either nothing changes, or the power light will start blinking from on to "dim" (not "out"). ...but still no boot.

The fan has been noisy on this thing for a while (but it still ran OK), so now I'm looking for a new power supply (I've found a few that should work).

This all just strikes me as incredibly odd...

2 weeks later... power supply is completely dead. New one on order. As for the "delayed start" phenomena... sometimes you just have to accept stuff without figuring out what's behind it. :??:

I know the computer is OK since when I (temporarily) hook up a standard size ATX supply, it works perfectly.
