HELP with a Net Vista 8305

#1 Post by racprops » Fri Nov 13, 2009 9:14 pm

OK I am working on a few of the older Pen 4 Net Vistas, nice systems.

And I see they can run all the way upto a 3.8 Gig CPU.

Now the problems is they will not let me change any of the CPUs, I have a few 2.66 and one 2.96 CPU but put it in place of a 2.4 and you got a dead system. Black screew and beeps...

How do you change the CPU, where is the setting??

What is the trick??

Never seen a system that will not see a slightly faster CPU until now. Will not let me upgrade it.

And it does not seem to switchable with in BIOs...I think I have to change the BIOs: flash in a differnt one per CPU??

HELP please.

AND:

OK I have seen 1599 and 1602 boards and they act like a everday computer, you can use a floppy and change out a video card and run a AGP Video card.

BUT what is the thing with the 1605 Board???

IT will NOT run a floppy, can not, will not and jumps right over the setting in bios... I even updated within the OS the BIOs and no good.

AND it will not let me install a APG video card, again no way no how.

BUT It will run a PCI Video card...

So what is this a special do not touch do not change board or what??

AGAIN PLEASE HELP!!!

I'd be very surprised if an 8305 would take a 3.8GHz CPU.

The chipset is limited to a 533MHz FSB CPU with 512k cache. The fastest CPU of that type would be a 3.06GHz but they're quite rare, 2.8GHz were far more common.
