sorry, if it was discussed already, but i think i've seen the fancontrol utility crash on my t43 at least once, leaving the fans off. I noticed it, so i restarted it...
but what would happen to pentium.m, if your CPU hits 100% and the fans are off, when you dont notice, for example the sorry.[censored] firefox browser likes to do that, if it comes across some flash crap. Would Dothan or Yonah burn or shut itself off, once it reaches certain treshold, like in that video, that used to circulate, where amd.athlon burned, when they removed the heatsink, while pentium4 just slowed down, and later shut itself off
also would the fancontrol author and thinkpad saver know anyhing about macbooks, and if it would be possible to write a similar fancontrol utility for that hardware?

All Intel chipsets have some pretty good thermal protection, they will either throttle themselves back to stop the rate of climb of the temperature or shut off completely once they reach their respective thresholds.

I'd recommend you try the service version of the fancontrol utility. The standard, version crashed on occasion. The service version has some bugfixes that make it more reliable. It has never crashed in the few months I've been using it. Also, since it is a service, it can be set for Windows to restart it if ever does fail.
