Just got my brand new T43 today, after awhile without a laptop since I sold my T41p. It purrs like a kitten, and im really happy about it so far.

However, since I often spend time in a somewhat silent office, some less fan noise would be apreciated. Its not a disaster, but it bothers me alittle.

Anyways, I thought I'd install CHC (now NHC) again and try undervolting it. However, I am in doubt about how low I can go. Any T43 (1,8 750m) users who have experiences here?
Or should I go with the fan control utility? Is is risky?

I would strongly recommend going with the fan control utility unless you really feel the urge to undervolt; undervolting the CPU isn't going to make that much of a difference as far as the fan noise goes. The TP FCU does a much better job at that since it controls the fan through a HAL interface to the EC which then applies the instructed voltages to the fan unit.

I tried out the TP fan control util yesterday evening, and a windows error came up every time I shut down the program, only having tested it "inactive". I'm too much of a chicken to try it out "active", especially with the errors.

Okay, downloaded and tried out the TP fan control util again, and now it works like a charm! thanks alot

Shame it cant work with NHC. Think it would work great along with some undervolting.

It does work with NHC--with the settings done up right. This has been discussed at length elsewhere at this site, but basically there is a conflict between the two when NHC is getting temperature readings as well as FC. On the Temp tab in NHC (v. 1.10) unselect 'Enable temperature readings' and you should be fine. Good luck!
