T61 - TPFC: rpm

#1 Post by IJALB » Wed Jan 02, 2008 8:07 pm

On my T61 (7664-18G) with Vista (32 Bit) I'm using TPFanControl (vers. 0.30) with the original settings.

On http://www.thinkpad-forum.de/thread.php?threadid=27879 I read:
[German]: "Der Lüfter des T61 ist ein deutliches Stück leiser. Alle Stufen laufen 500 U/Min. langsamer, d.h. dass er in der ersten Stufe nur noch 2500 U/Min. hat und kaum hörbar ist. Mit Fan-Control kann man das natürlich noch weiter eindämmen, ist aber m.E. nicht nötig."
[English]: The fan of the T61 is more silent and run 500 rpm slower, i.e. only 2500 rpm on level one.

On my T61 with TPFC the fan will run on level one approx. from 2980 to 3180 rpm.
On level three it will run approx. from 3310 to 3510 rpm.

I'd like to have lower rpm on level one.
Is this possible?
How are your rpm on level one (on your T61)?

PS: The values are out of my "fancontrol_csv.txt"-logging.
PS2: I have the latest BIOS and the latest drivers.

I don't think that you can adjust at wich speed your fancontrol should run. But you can change when it will run and at what level, in the settings document located in FPFC directory with the readme file.

Here's some numbers from an old version of TPFC on T60:
level 0 = off
level 1,2,3 = 2900 rpm
level 4,5,6 = 3200 rpm
level 7 = max speed 3700 rpm
I will monitor my own rpm's on my T60, when I get home from work today (in about 10 hours from now)

For your settings I would set it in smart mode and modify settings this way:
Level=55 0
Level=70 1
Level=80 2
Level=85 64 - (64 is the same as level 7, aprox. 4800 rpm)

Don't kill me if I'm wrong, I'm not a complete expert in this.
