T21 SXGA+ screen

I have a T21 (2647-TD2) with a screen with a worn-out display backlight. I want to upgrade to a 1440x1050 display. I think I currently have an XGA display. It has an 800MHz Pentium 3. I already ordered the SXGA+ cable from eBay. Do I need an 850MHz or greater Pentium 3?

I have read that you need a T21 mobo with a S3 Savage IX8+ for SXGA+, but the XGA T21s come with S3 Savage IX8. I think I have the IX8 chip, anyway to check? Has anyone ever tried installing a SXGA+ panel into a T21 with an 800MHz P3/IX8 chip?

you don't need a faster CPU to drive that resolution, i don't see why that should be the case anyway.

there's only one way, the MTM. your T21's MTM states that it came factory-installed with a 1024x768 display, which means it has a Savage/IX8 with 8 MiB of SGRAM. i don't think you'll need a T21 motherboard with the Savage/IX8+ to drive that resolution either, seeing that 8 MiB is sufficient for 1400x1050. you'd just have lower frame rates in certain video games on that resolution with only 8 MiB of SGRAM, but that's to be expected though.
