Is Norton Antivirus 2004 required to install and run IBMs Rescue n Recovery? I wasn't planning on using norton AV. I may have to try another backup/restore program if this is true.

I believe you but look at this I copied from the txt file associated with RnR:
Software versions to use with this release
==========================================
Software needed to operate the Rescue and Recovery program include
the following:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 SP3 (or higher)
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Norton AntiVirus 2004: If you have a computer with Norton AntiVirus
2002 or 2003, you are eligible for a free upgrade to Norton
AntiVirus 2004.
Kinda makes it sound like you NEED Norton!

On my T30 I just did a fresh install of XP from a retail CD. I don't have Norton nor do I want it. After my XP was loaded I went straight to IBM's site and downloaded all the drivers and software, including R&R 3. I then installed my favorite applications, which definitely did not include Norton, then did a complete backup of my system using R&R. So, I can tell you unequivicably, you don't need Norton.
The way I read that is if you have Norton 2002 or 2003, you are eligible for a free upgrade to 2004 as 2002/3 won't work. You need Norton AV 2004 if using Norton AV.
