is my processor over clocked

#1 Post by Antonio » Thu Jan 26, 2006 4:55 pm

Hi greate site, lots of good information

my question is, Has my T23 processor been over clocled,
I ask this because when I looked up my system on the IBM site
it says my processor is 866 MHZ but my laptop says its a 1.13 Ghz
it says this in the bio, Does any one have any ideas on this?

My setup is a T23 2647-BJG

Regards

You can't overclock a T23 as far as I know, it looks like at some point in its life, someone swapped out and upgraded your T23's processor.

Did you buy your T23 used or new? The model that you referenced, after a quick search on google, revealed that it was supposed to come with an 866mhz processor, as IBM is telling you.

Maybe someone upgraded the processor to a higher end T23 processor, specifically the 1.133Ghz processor.

Normally, I would tell you to check the FAQ section of the forum, for information on the tawbook.pdf, but since your machine is not from the US, it doesn't show up in the regular tawbook.pdf.

Here is a link that you can look at and compare the different models:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... awbook.pdf

I believe that the US version of your T23 is either the 2647-2KU or the 2647-6KU (the first two on the first T23 page), which meant that most likely you have a 13" display instead of the 14" version, but I could be wrong.

No problem about the FAQ part...

As for the LCD, you can measure the LCD diagonally and see if it is closer to 13.3" or 14.1", since you can't obviously check the tawbook.pdf for specific information.

The other option is to remove the LCD and check the part number, but as they say: "if it ain't broke..."

No problem, and I know it is a little late in the conversation to say this but: Welcome to the Forum!! :D :D

Some info that I thought that I would pass along since your battery is dead: look for a T30 battery, you will get far more life out of it than a standard T2x battery.

By the way, consider yourself very lucky, the 1.133Ghz processor (and the 1.2 on other models) are incredible processors. They are apparently as fast (and cooler) than a P4 1.6Ghz processor.
