I'm looking to get one or the other this coming week...From the homework I've done so far these 2 models seem to have little difference between them except the R32 seems to run $50-100 cheaper on Ebay..
I'm just going to surf the net and play a few games on it..But I like speed, but again these 2 models seem identical...
So I'd would like some opinions from the Thinkpad experts here..Which should I get..Spend around $400 on an R32,or $500+(almost $600 for a T30 on IBM's site) on a T30...Thanks in advance...

T30 or a R32
Well, assuming that both units are out of warranty as a starting point, I'd say go for the cheaper of the two that meets your needs. As for the IBM option, you will get 90 days warranty on those units (not worth the $100 in my opinion).
The T series build materials would be better, but the build quality of the two units would be the same in my opinion. You may choose to compromise and go with a T23 from the IBM certified used site and split the difference on cost and end up with a fine machine as well...(and 90 day warranty and 7 day money back guarantee)...But not sure that would meet your speed/game play requirement...
Good luck...

Funny you mention the T23...For about 2 weeks I had every intention of getting a T23,so much so i bought my wife one(off of Ebay) and the thing is GORGOUS..It's like new,she loves it and I keep threatening her that I'm going to take it and buy her another machine..I ordered a 1gHZ with a 20 gig HDD,got a 1.13 Ghz and a 40 gig HDD...For $300...Nice deal..
But I'm worse than a little kid,the more I look the more I want something alittle newer..I have a 600 and a 600x and quite frankly they suit my purpose but I'm selling the 600,and I have a few hundred in my Paypal account(from selling my wife's Dell laptop, which when compared to these TP's was a huge POS) so I want to blow it all on something new and improved..
I'm leaning towards the T30,but if these 2 models are so similar I don't want to blow $100 just for the sake of blowing money...Besides the defective memory slot in the T30 are there any other problems with that model?? Or any serious problems with the R32?

Since I own a t30 I thought I'd chime in. The memory slot is an issue if you plan on using the slot. You could ask before you buy. If the memory cover has a raised square middle part supposedly it has the repaired slot. Got this information from Len at absoluteRaleigh. I was at Len's office about a month ago checking out some T30s for a friend and there was one that had the flat cover but the slot was working fine with a 256 stick in it, so I'm not real positive about the cover thing.
Anyway, my t30 is a great machine, i use it every day for work, I have a 5400rpm hd and 512m ram, internal wireless, and it seems as fast as my t42. It is solid and you can tweak things to get some decent battery life.
Can't say anything about an R series but I think they are probably good also.
It's a win, win for you either way
