T22 and IBM UltraPort Webcam problems - slow frame rate!

#1 Post by brinnie » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:03 pm

I have used the IBM UltraPort WebCam for a long time now, connected to T20's, T22's and T23's running WindowsXP Pro without any problems, worked just perfectly BUT :( have just installed it on a new T22 running exactly the same set up, ie OS and installed software and it's frame rate is about one frame per year! OK! Have 256MB RAM, which always did in the past. What I have noticed this time is pre-install of SVC Pack 2 all ran perfectly but after then the frame rate decided to go on holiday. Any suggestions? GOD! Why does the capture take awful pics of me either screwing up my face or picking my nose? HELP!

After the intallation of SP2, the max. TCP connections are limited to 10 (SpeedGuide.net). If you have more programs running at the same time, that require bandwith (like filesharing), you might get into trouble.
There are tools to adjust or remove the limit, like XP-AntiSpy

IBM TP T22 (900/512/40/DVD/CDRW/14")
IBM TP A31 (1.8GHz/512MB/40GB/DVD-CDRW/15" SXGA)

Thanks for the info, tried everything from the site you suggested but cannot see any difference. Is just so frustrating considering I use T22's simply because of it's UltraPort connector and the IBM UltraPort WebCam and my T30 is left at the office. Am thinking I should swop them about and the T30 for home use and the T22 for the office. The T30, when connecting the WebCam via a normal USB, works perfectly.

Did you try XP-Antispy? Very convenient with this program.

Yes, I tried that programme and realised something, I could pick my nose and no one watching my cam would ever know  Have to admit was a nice programme though, very useful. But I still have my problem of a WebCam refresh rate of one frame per year :x Should I sue IBM (Lenovo) or simply slit my throat? Another thing I noticed, if using the cam and then shut it down and open again I get the imfamous BLUE screen :?
