T20 Display

#1 Post by Sonic » Tue Mar 28, 2006 11:50 am

the display itself as I can see the screen and when the light comes on it
all works fine. It hisses and flickers for a few seconds when it comes on
too if that is any help in diagnosing, a bit like a faulty fluorescent tube
fitting starting up.

Can anyone recommend a supplier for replacement parts too and offer any tips
for replacement. I have experience of soldering and desktop pcs but never
done anything with a laptop before.

Many thanks,

As the backlight seems to work, I would try another inverter card first. For part# and how to disassemble the display, download the HMM.
You can get the card from IBM, ebay or ask in the FOR SALE/Want to Buy section of this forum.

As for the backlight, I'm very satisfied with this store: http://www.lcdpart.com/.
A tutorial on how to change a backlight can be found here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=3705
