Internal minipci slot full? Is it a 100tx/56k combo there?

I wanted to see if I could fit a minipci card in there as I thought about dumping my pcmcia wireless to free up a credit card slot.

However it looks like there's a card there already.

If I pull that card will I lose 100tx and modem?

What's the point of having a minipci slot if you're gonna fill it up with a modem and 100tx card?

This is a T21 btw.

yes, the T20,21,22 doesn't have an integrated Ethernet-card and uses a mini-pci card for ethernet and modem.

Only the T23 has an extra ethernet-daughter-card and a mini-pci modem or modem-wifi-combocard.

so you only can use ethernet OR wifi on your mini-pci-slot because there is no ethernet-Wifi-combo-card available....

The other way I could go is get a 802.11g minipci and use one of my old Xircom 100/56 double stack pcmcia cards.

Not that I use modem anymore let alone 100tx on laptops.

Right now I'm using a pcmcia 802.11g adapter.

That is actually the route that I am going to be taking with my wife's X20. She very seldom needs dialup, but cannot go with out it, incase she goes to a client's house and has to dial out.

I will be storing the 100/56 pcmcia combo card in her laptop bag and she can use it if she needs it.

As an aside, the day of PCMCIA is passing.

Many current laptops do not come with credit card slots any more... including Dell.

In its day pcmcia was innovative due to size but even that is too big now.

Double stack pcmcia died out with the first of the centrinos.

I like double stack pcmcia. I like the old Xircom adapters I still use.

One of the reasons I still like the old Thinkpads.

An easier way (trust me, I tried exactly what you propose) is to use a 3com xjack card with retractable antenna and keep the modem/NIC in the minipci slot. The reception you will get with home-run antennas will be no better or worse than what you get with the PC card wifi adaptor. Been there, done that.
