T23 WIRELESS screen bezel?

#1 Post by skou » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:45 pm

Does anyone have a decent source for a screen bezel, (the frame around the screen) for a wireless screen, for a T23? Yes, the screen case and bezel are different.

What is the IBM part number of just the LCD bezel? The only way it comes retail is in an LCD kit, part number 46L4910. That is a $444 part from Lenovo USA. I saw it for $215 on EBay. Both of those numbers are probably more than the entire machine is worth. You might be better off buying an entire wireless LCD assembly on the used market. Personally I'd place a thread in the marketplace forum to see if anyone has just the bezel or an entire LCD unit setup for WiFi.

Why don't you just buy new wireless antennas for like 4 $ from ebay and some miniPCI wireless card? It works flawlessly in all my T23-s I've upgraded.

I've got a couple of T23s, with the wireless screen, and the wireless cards, but they just need the screen bezels to be complete.

So, I'm seeing if the bezels are available, somewhere.

Pardon me if the question is silly, but why is the screen bezel different from the non-wireless ones? You are talking about the peice of plastic that covers the inverter and runs around the periphery of the LCD right?

It is about 1/8th inch wider, just like the back piece is. The outer lip, on both sides is actually thicker.

If you look at a T23 with the wireless setup, next to a regular T2*, you can see that the whole screen half is wider. (Those antennae make it wider.)

If you see one for sale on Ebay, and they show a shot of the top or bottom, with the screen down, you can see it easily.

Yes, a regular bezel works, somewhat. Just doesn't look as good.

Plus the wireless bezel has what looks like "sargent" stripes on the outer edges so the "metal clad" bezel doesn't kill reception.

A very noble quest indeed, but hard to fulfill. Sounds like your "oh so close, but yet so far".

No, the back cover has the "sergeant" stripes. (Really, overseas hashmarks.) I've got those. Just need the front bezel.

Is there any difference between wireless and non-wireless hinges?
