Disk caddy and rails

#1 Post by JBUK » Tue Jun 25, 2019 11:16 am

I am in the UK and I ordered two of these caddies from Shengen but find that the rubber rails are so flimsy that as a result they are unusable .
I do a lot of HDD swapping between machines and need rubber rails that stay in place when removed and when being slid back in. I am reluctant to get more from China in case they too are poor quality.
Where do you guys buy your caddies and rails with the usual hard rubber rails?
Where to begin......

Honestly?

Old, non-working or destroyed systems for salvage.

Edit: if "flimsy" = super-soft, these may be from R6x.

Two drops of super glue will solve your problem. Just enough to keep it on there but not enough to make it impossible to remove.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Chinese knockoff rubber rails are flimsy pieces of crap, and the caddies are usually slightly too big or too small. For quality you have to get OEM. Or fabricate your own solution with tape and paper which I've done a few times...
