There are two issues with my T60 which, while not showstopping by any means, I find annoying:
[1] The Intel PRO/WIreless 3945ABG WiFi card generates, intermittently, Event 5010 and floods the event viewer with this at startup. The event is described as:
"The description for Event ID 5010 from source netwlv32 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted."
I believe this slows down the startup. But eventually it stops, and as I said, doesn't occur at every startup. The last time this happened was 6 weeks ago. However, I don't use the laptop daily.
The driver is Version 13.4.0.139 from Intel.
[2] The fingerprint reader intermittently fails. I don't know if this is a hardware error or if the Win 10 upgrade caused it. If it's the latter, is it possible to rectify?
The driver version is 1.6.1.341 Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF mode)
The Thinkpad T60 1951 has been upgraded to 4GB RAM the HDD replaced by a SSD.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: T60 Windows 10 issues
1. Upgrade the WiFi card to a much newer one (say, Intel 6205). I've also experienced these BSODs on an X61T with the same Intel 3945ABG WiFi chip on Windows 10. You'll need to flash a modified BIOS that removes the WiFi whitelist before changing the card.
2. No idea about this, as none of my Thinkpads that run Win 10 have a fingerprint reader.

Re: T60 Windows 10 issues
From the best of my understanding he is not talking about bluescreens, but rather, a bunch of events in the event viewer.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 11:00 pm1. As for the bluescreen problem with Intel 3945ABG cards in Windows 10/11, it also applies to 4965AGN as well, and from my experience, you need to use the Windows 7 driver provided by intel, rather than the one Microsoft included as a part of Windows 10/11.
Unfortunately Intel has not done any favours and removed all drivers for legacy devices a few years ago, but if you find hard enough you should find the latest driver by intel, Wireless_15.3.1_s32.exe (or Wireless_15.3.1_s64.exe if you are crazy enough to run 64 bit on 3GB of RAM)
And one other thing I find annoying with Intel cards is that they may also play a glitch with our router. When our router overheats and stops responding, it takes the Intel wifi cards with it and make them go bluescreen! This happened to me anything from the 4965AGN to even the Centrino Dual band N series cards (even with Windows 8.1/10 drivers)! My devices with Broadcom or Atheros wifi don't have this problem, neither do any other wifi network I have been to elsewhere.
As for the fingerprint reader, it would help that you look into microsoft update catalog and search for the latest driver dated around 2012-2013. Those are all made Windows Hello compatible and will work with Windows Hello completely without ThinkVantage fingerprint software.
