Hmm, this comes exactly 2 days after my T60 gets shipped

According to the PDF, it's only the 15" that will sport the flexview, the 14" remains but a normal screen

As things stand, I'll just sit back, relax, and type away on my core duo.
One fine day, I'll replace cpus. Now, I enjoy the bargain the T60 was.

I just ordered the 2007-6PU, due to ship on 10/31:

T60 2007-6PU Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 1GB 14.1" SXGA+ X1400 128MB 120G 5400 Combo ✶ Intel 11a/b/g None Blue Finger 9-cell

I wanted the 100gb 7200rpm drive, DVD burner and 6-cell, but otherwise this seemed like the best deal on a Core 2 T60 (I can also take all those components from my existing T60).

I looked for a model with 15" UXGA and they are not to be found so I guess Hydis is still bankrupt. Does that mean I'll be getting a Samsung or TMD panel?

Um, how did you order that? I'd like to order one too, but it isn't showing up on their website... did you do it by phone?

I think, you don't read it correctly. At the bottom, Flexview is mentioned only for the 15" screen.

Darn, wishful thinking on my part. On another note, the tabook appears to have been updated:

So there is only one model of T60p with the new core 2 duo?...

You guys that have inside information, can you explain why it took Lenovo so long to announce this relatively minor upgrade? I was thinking that the reason for not announcing the Core 2 when every other PC manufacturer did was that Lenovo was going to do wait until they announced a major upgrade of the form factor as has been speculated in this thread.

Form factor upgrade? Unlikely. They will stick with the current form factor as long as they stick to staying within the T6X Series. They aren't going to deviate much, if at all.

I suspect the reason they waited is to do more extensive testing and have some time for having a "roadmap" to follow. I don't mind the wait if those are the reasons that, indeed, caused a late release and yet put it on far more solid ground, perhaps, than the rest of the Core 2 Duo laptops that have been out there for a few months already. :)

You mean dedicated graphics with discrete graphics right?
The standard one only has the GMA950.
It can be configured with a NVS110m, but that isn't as powerfull as an X1400 isn't it?

Yes, I ordered by phone - a very nice rep named Mark. This seemed like the best 'deal' since it has a fast CPU and X1400, even though I don't want a 9-cell or combo drive.

I just got off the phone with a Lenovo representative who said that I'd have to wait till the end of the month to order a Core 2 Duo-equipped T60 from the website.

I did call them up and see what options they had for sale by phone, but there were a lot of restrictions -- for instance, they said I can only get the T7600 processor with a 14" screen, and I can't get a DVD burner with the configuration I wanted. Also, I could only get the 5400rpm 120GB hard drive, not the 7200rpm 100GB drive I wanted.

I'd rather configure my laptop exactly the way I want it, so although it's a drag, I figure I'll wait till the end of the month. (I've already waited a month and a half, so I guess it isn't that big of a deal.)

That is rather ridiculous. Why say you're selling the buggers if you arent? I dont know about anyone else but that pisses me off a lot more than waiting.

hawkbox - the t60 with core 2 duos are now available for ordering from any of the three broadline distributors via your reseller channel. They were officially announced yesterday, which means we can start selling. We already have orders to Lenovo and we've already started selling these today. Just because they aren't on Lenovo's website doesn't mean you can't order them through the channel.

bert - Lenovo has never been the first to market with the latest and greatest. As with a new model car, do you really want to be the first to buy or wait a year until it's had a chance to have the bugs worked out? Lenovo performs extensive testing and compatibility exercises to be sure that when they introduce the newest technologies, that they will be the best in class. You'll see going forward that the latest and greatest innovations in mobile computing will come out in the Lenovo branded 3000 series products first, to test the market, then followed by introduction in the ThinkPads. The 3000 series products' life cycle is extrememly short, lending itself well to introduction of newest and latest technology, sort of a minor league testing grounds for the thinkpads.

Ok it is good to know that the online resellers have them. However can someone tell me who the 3 online resellers are ? I know of Euclid Computers, who are the other two ? I also went to Euclid computers and I found two core2 duo T60P's listed. One is the 20078JU which I can find in the tabook link given above and a 20088JU which as far as I can tell from the Euclid site has the same specs but a different price. Can anyone tell me what is different between these two models ?

thanks.

well, one of them says 3 years onsite service, the other one just says 3 years. maybe that is why.

its good to know that kjjb, however I need to have a model number to provide to order the laptop from our supplier. We have an rfp with them so I have to go through them and they arent terribly informative in this information. And with the fact that you have to pick a part number rather than customize the machine I have to pick very carefully to find the one I want. If you know of another web site I can check to get a PN from I will certainly do so.

Icefang - Euclid is a reseller, not a distributor. They probably buy their products from a distributor, either Tech Data, Ingram Micro, or Synnex. Those distys don't sell direct to end users, only to resellers.

Here are some models of the T60 Core 2 Duos:

19512QU
19512RU
19512SU
19514NU
2007GCU
2007GDU
20076PU
19513GU
2007J2U
20077JU
20078JU
1953DDU
2623KEU
2623KFU

I think that's it for now. More models coming soon.

Interesting, only problem is it tells me nothing as to what is in those. The one I was debating before the update was the

200772U

Is there one in the roughly equivalent? Or does someone have a link to any kind of documentation on the T60 models? I tried the ftp site but I was pulling up X40 models.

Edit: I would like to retract this statement before I look to stupid. I found them. Just was readin the wrong section of the pdf.

try 20077JU - only difference I see is that this is a 5400rpm drive, but it's the 15" SXGA+ screen.

What happened to the wide T-series? Is that a later announcement? And how about the 802.11n that Notebook Review claimed was coming now?

Its a combo driver rather than a DVD+-RW drive. I need a dvd burner. and personally I think not putting one in everything is stupid. or can that drive be removed? I just looked at an R60 we just got in and I can remove it from that one, will it work as well from a T60? Im sadly quite new to the thinkpad world.

hawkbox - yes, the r60 and t60 drives are interchangeable from an operating perspective. From a look and feel, they may not be perfect, as some of the ultrabay devices have a curved bezel and some are flat.
