Has anyone tried to move a hard drive being used in a T61p to a T420?
When I move the drive, the Windows 7 spash screen starts and then BSOD. Went thru the fix steps and still nothing.
So, is there anything I can do to preload drivers so I can move this drive over ?
Thanks.

The hardware is too different, therefor it crashes.
You will need to do a fresh Windows install from scratch.

You can "Sysprep" your hard drive. Check out this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/13 ... puter.html I just did it successfully when moving my 750GB from my T60p to my T61p. Just have your Win 7 product key handy. You will need it to reactivate windows afterwards, but sysprep makes W7 redetect and set up all your hardware. All the rest of your installed software should work just fine. I did have to reinstall Norton Internet Security but that was it.gdiggs wrote:Has anyone tried to move a hard drive being used in a T61p to a T420?

sounds to me like your old system had the bios SATA setting on compatibility mode, try setting the new computer on compatibility mode, if it works then you have your answer and after it boots into windows you'll have to enable the sata drivers before you can switch it back.
