ATI X1500 on the T60 - Is this card real?

#1 Post by egnatius » Sun Jan 22, 2006 10:19 pm

As most of you, I'm excited about the newly announced but as of yet seemingly unavailable T60.
I was looking through the datasheet and noticed Lenovo will include an ATI Mobility Radeon X1500 in the higher-end T60s. Does anyone know if this card even exists? ATI doesn't have it listed in their website and a Google search hasn't yielded any useful results.

I think it's a typo, and should read X1600. However, there's no way to know for sure until Lenovo actually puts the higher end models up for sale.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Hi!
Here in Norway the Lenovo dealer says that they only get the x1300 and x-1500 ati card.
No typo here, the official release of the T-60 brochure says only x-1300 or x-1500.
I also find this a bit strange, because Ati have no info about x-1500.
The model types aviable in Norway are: 1951,1953,1954,2007,2613,2623
Processors aviable: T1300 (core solo), T2300, T2400, T2500, T2600 (duo)

That doesn't surprise me, since at some point Lenovo also claimed they'll be putting the FireGL V5200 in their T60p's, and that is also one video card that absolutely no information is given on by ATi.

I say that we have to wait and see. Maybe Lenovo has inside information on ATi cards that should become available.

personally, ati-x1500 maybe is ordered specially by Lenovo,as ati 9550. :P
But, I imagine that at the end of 2006, lenovo will release T60/T61 with X1600 GPU as Intel releases its 64-byte dual core cpu.

But will cost at least twice as much.

Maybe it's a strategy of Lenovo to get people to buy their p-models.

What is the FireGL V5200 based on ? X300 or X600 ? I have always had the impression it was the X300 , but i thought the V3200 was ?

V3200 is X600.

V5200 should be based on one of the X1000-series cards. I guess it's the X1600, considering that V5100 is the X800 Pro/XT.
