T60(p) Battery UPgrade

#1 Post by jeremivw » Sun Apr 16, 2006 10:11 pm

For anyone who hasn't tried this or has a T60 on the way, you GOTTA get the 6 cell (and don't wait a month like I did). This thing is like a whole new lappy w/ the 6 cell! Much more balanced, lighter and easier to hold...I much prefer the 6 cell so it was worth the ~$150!
T60p 2623DDU / 2GB DDR2 / Dual PCIe Gigabit NICs! (OB & ExpressCard) / CardBus 5-in1 / 3, 6 & 9 cell batts / travel 65W & dual 90W AC adapters / Kensington Pilot Mini BT Mouse

802 what?!? I Use EVDO every day and it rocks, man!

Sorry but I can not imagine not having the 9cell. Guess it all depends on what you are doing but I would rather have the power in my case.

I'm really happy you wrote this. I've been wondering whether I'd want the 9-cell battery judging from the pictures, I've seen. It appears that the machine loses its aesthetics from the 9-cell battery.

This has helped me decide to order a 6-cell.

Thanks,

Rex

After owning the 9-cell, I could never do the 6.

Perhaps the 6-cell adds a little less weight and is
not as protruding (not that I think the 9-cell looks bad) --
but to have LESS battery time available to me? No way!

I'll stay with the 9-cell.

I agree with the 1st post. Though i lose some power by using the 6 cell with my t60p, i ALSO use the ultrabay battery. I like carrying the system much better witout the 9 cell.

Exactly, I like the 6 cell because it does not increase the footprint of the computer. In addition I use the utlrabay battery and find that I get much more computing time in.
I also have a 9 cell, since sometimes I install a 2nd hard drive in the Ultrabay, however my first preference is using 2 batteries.

Yeah, I also don't like the way the 9-cell protrudes and changes the footprint of the notebook.

I decided to get a second 6-cell as my mobile solution. On a price per cell basis, it's a much better deal than the 3-cell UltraBay battery. It's also a pretty lightweight extra thing to carry, given the other books, papers, etc. that I have with me.

In the end, I have 12-cells!!

Brilliant! ....duh why did I not think of that :)

That makes a lot of sense especially since my usage has changed. Now I regularly have a second hard drive in the ultra sliim bay. In addition, you are so right about it being a better value.
Thanks for waking me up to that idea!
