need advice on x41T screen problem

Hello everybody

I got an x41T from a friend
Everything is correct, except... a screen problem
The screen turns up OK when booting up the machine, but it goes dark after a few seconds
It comes back to normal, then black again, when I switch to external video then LCD
Video card is OK as I tried on an external LCD display
After investigation, when I put a little magnet near the left bottom of the LCD bezel, it goes up and down again, as if I close the screen in fact

Shall I change the inverter card? would it be enough, or is it another defectuous component?

It could be the inverter card, but my bet is on a bad CCFL (backlight) tube.
You can try to replace the CCFL (quite complicated) or replace the LCD panel, or replace the whole lid.

Yes. Thinkpads are pretty easy to work on. Ive seen X41 Tablet screens (the whole housing, etc) on ebay before for around $30. I would just replace the whole screen. Maybe try changing the bios settings (LCD, VGA boot settings).

Well...
I received my inverter card from singapour for a few $
replaced the card... failure!
The CCFL turns up for a few seconds then I can hear it making more and more noise then it turns off
My last hope is to buy & replace the CCFL, or find a cheap screen (hard to find...)
