does x31 internal power supply

Does me x31 have a power supply that can be repaired or is it replace system board?

My x31 is not booting anymore (on either battery or mains or together). No light for charging and no power up

Looking at the X31 Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM), there's no separate power supply or DC sub-board.

Before blaming the motherboard, try removing the MiniPCI modem/WiFi card. There's been several times that I've bought a "dead" T2x system, only to have it come back to life after taking out that card. To get to the MiniPCI card, follow the instructions in the HMM:

Which is helpful but I lack suitable tools here.

I have noticed that the lithium battery is low. I don't know if that's a cause or a symptom.

Will they POST without that battery? If no then I might try that next

My experience has been that you should be able to power up any of the recent Thinkpads with a dead or removed CMOS battery (say anything newer than the 600 series). Having said that however, I understand that people have reported in the past that their system(s) would not boot until they replaced the CMOS battery. This might be true for some ancient systems or perhaps it's a question of semantics; they may get a BIOS error saying to reset the date/time and the laptop won't boot an OS until they do so.

From the sounds of it, that's probably what's happened to your current system (and earlier ones). It looks like the 5V cap would be easy to do with a standard soldering iron (w/fine tip) but the 3.3V is surrounded by several other components.

This one I'm inclined to agree is likely the cap, but the symptoms of the others were different.

I still have them back I Australia so perhaps one day I'll try to answer that question
