X41t screen - where to use it up.
X41t screen - where to use it up.
To start with - I love good quality screens. And I hate tablet versions of 12" thinkpads. Too heavy, too big, touchscreens do not move me much.
The problem is, non-tablet 12" have ugly screens. And tablet units have good ones.
I was rather distanced with such modding since screens were expensive - however, I was lucky to get a X41t HT12X21-100 at $18. There are some comments on the forum from people who succeeded with installing it into X31 - how about X4x or X6x non-tablet? Anyone tried this one in those systems?

Re: X41t screen - where to use it up.
Oh man I envy you, I have an X32 in pristine condition, I acquired it for retro gaming, but the screen of it has abysmal colours and viewing angles, I always end up rather using my T60 (Flexview). Wish I could find a screen like yours for a good price. I even have a forum post downloaded, where someone modded a similar tablet screen into an X32. Although I am not sure how much things would be different in the case of an X40 or X60.

Well, if it is of any comfort to you, I'd say that even if your X32 had the IPS mod, a T60 with 15" Flexview is a better system for retro games in every way. It's much more powerful with its dual core CPU, and the X32's compatibility isn't better except maybe for Win9x, if you need some very specific Win9x games that don't work well on XP and have no patches.

Re: X41t screen - where to use it up.
That's true, the main advantage for the X32 would be it's small size and how lightweight it is. Although when I am on the move I would need my T60 most of the time anyway, to do my work on. So yeah that X32 plan doesn't really sound all that practical in a real life scenario. Still would be nice to have it, after all I already have the machine sitting unused.dr_st wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 3:33 pmWell, if it is of any comfort to you, I'd say that even if your X32 had the IPS mod, a T60 with 15" Flexview is a better system for retro games in every way. Re: X41t screen - where to use it up.
If the X41T screen works on the X31, it should work on the X32 as well, unless the X32 HMM list different LCDs and cables compared to the X31. dr_st mentions an IPS-modded X32 in an old thread.
IIRC the X41T IPS LCD has has the same pinout as the ones in the X60T and X61T. This means, you'll need an adapter cable in order to use it with a non-tablet. That said, is it even available online?

Re: X41t screen - where to use it up.
Of course it does. There is no difference between X31 and X32 except the CPUs soldered to the board.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 10:46 amIf the X41T screen works on the X31, it should work on the X32 as well
For an X3x you don't need an adapter, just flip the connector 180 degrees. You even found it out yourself earlier.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 10:46 amIIRC the X41T IPS LCD has has the same pinout as the ones in the X60T and X61T. My bad. I was thinking of the non-tablet X60 and X61.dr_st wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 3:41 pmFor an X3x you don't need an adapter, just flip the connector 180 degrees. You even found it out yourself earlier.![]()

Well I can hunt for one if you like. They are cheap here in Poland.zoltan87 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 1:35 pmOh man I envy you, I have an X32 in pristine condition, I acquired it for retro gaming, but the screen of it has abysmal colours and viewing angles, I always end up rather using my T60 (Flexview). Other than that, I need a X3x to do the mod on mine screen ^^'

Re: X41t screen - where to use it up.
Oh sorry, not sure how I missed this. I would be definitely interested in a flexview x41 tablet screen at a reasonable price. Also shipping would be to the UK (or alternatively even Hungary could work if that was a lot cheaper). Feel free to send me a pm here about the ballpark these screens could be sourced for in Poland. Cheers.
