x32 ssd adapter?

#1 Post by dlbeaty » Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:33 pm

My X32 has several great programs that cannot be reactivated if need be because the company has recently abandoned them. I have had great service from my x30, x32, x61 and I am hoping that I can continue to use these programs on this dedicated recording studio PC. For as long as possible anyway. Since SSD's are easy to find I have found some adapters that claim to allow an SSD to replace the HD if it fails. Has anyone tried this?

I was looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z67GX6W?_e ... T4BHJF502V
It seems like it is harder to find compatible SDD's for this purpose locally. That is why I am hoping for the cheaper model. All I could find at a reasonable amount of data vs cost is this:

Do you think this would be a safe bet?

The expectations of no-name M.2 SSDs are anybody's guess.
On the rare occasions that I need one, I buy quality like Samsung (my choice), Crucial, Kingston, WD, Transcend etc.
YMMV.

Yes I would prefer name brands. The problem I had is that the first adapters I found require ssd's that follow the NGFF B/M-Key format. The readily available NVMe versions are not compatible with these adapters.

Then I found another adapter that used the older mini-sd format. I did eventually find a mSATA from Kingston that has worked well so far in this one.
