#1 Post by .di » Wed Sep 21, 2005 4:29 pm

hi everyone.. i have tried to search for the answer.. but couldn't find any

so.. i'm asking it here..

what i want to know is if X41 and X40 use the same batteries.. are going to buy me a 8cell battery from eBay.. coz here in Sweden X41 only ship with the 4cell battery.. and the 8cell cost 2,118 SEK.. around 272,66 USD..

the 8cell i can buy here in Sweden has Part Number: 92P1119

btw.. any of you that can recommend a good eBay seller that sells batteries and other accessories for ThinkPads..

All laptops within a series are compatible with the same accessories.

X40 == X41 for the purpose of accessories (note: the tablet is technically a different series, it's the X Tablet, not the X. However, the tablet IS compatible with X40/41 batteries.)

Other examples:

X30 == X32 for accessories.

And, a wild one:

T43p == R50e for batteries.

The T series and the R series batteries are not interchangeable.

Hmm... then why did I see in one of my PC World issues an IBM ad that listed a "T and R series" 9-cell battery?

Ah, I found it...

Hmmm...it looks like you're right in a way. But the previous generation R series battery is not compatible with the T series.

The original question at the top of this thread has already been answered...

but in regards to compatibility of tablet vs non-tablet batteries:

The ONLY X40/X41 battery that is compatible with the X41-Tablet is the "ThinkPad X40 Series Extended Life Battery" (92P1006). This is the wedge-shaped slice that attaches to the bottom of the laptop. The X40/X41's regular 4-cell and 8-cell batteries that attach to the main (REAR) battery slot will NOT fit on the X41-Tablet. The Tablet's main (rear-mounted) batteries have a 2 to 3 inch-deep slot where the rotating LCD screen's stem is located.

See
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/accessories/ba ... ble.html#x
and
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/accessories/ba ... tml#tablet

Although you don't see the Extended (wedge/slice) battery listed under the tablet section on this website, it actually IS compatible. (I have one on my tablet right now.) Also, it is listed as a compatible battery on the tablet pages of the TABOOK.

What ended up being the final answer for Tablets?

I had called a Lenovo rep and he quickly answered that they do, but I thought it was a little too quick.

I also checked online http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-53664 and the 1866 hardware is not listed under compatibility.

Do x40/x41 batteries NOT fit in the x41 Tablet? I wanted to pick up a 4 cell because a number of users said that the size difference/weight was noticable from the 8 cell (that came with my Tablet).

no, the x40/x41 batteries do NOT fit the X41 Tablet (except for the "extended" wedge). I was gonna upload some pics of my x40 and x41 Tablet with all batteries lying next to them... but too much trouble.

order a X40/X41 battery if you don't believe me.

Just to confirm -- the batteries aren't the same.

I was sent an X41T four cell battery for my X41 by mistake, and had to return it, twice in fact... The X41T battery is longer than the X41 battery and has plastic nubs in a different place so it doesn't slot in correctly.
