Thinkpad X31 security chip ?

#1 Post by jasko » Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:32 pm

Hallo,
When I turn on my X31 I listen Four cycles of four short beeps and the screen remains blank.
I read at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-44114
the error is "System board. ( secure chip)".
What can I do to solve this problem ?
1) change the chip (buy a programmed chip)
or do you think there are other solotion?
thanks

Did you ever get that problem solved? I have bought a couple of system boards and have the same problem. Thanks.

Well, I solved my problem - thanks to other links in this forum. The four series of four beeps indicate that the security chip isn't present. That chip is on the IR/IEEE 1394 Firewire daughter card. The chip is paired with the system board so you must use the matching daughter card or you will get an error 0192.
