Wireless problems after resume from sleep

#1 Post by law663 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 12:25 pm

I have an X41 tablet with the Intel Pro wireless 2915ABG and access connections 4.23. Whenever I resume from sleep I can't connect to wireless networks. Access says there are no networks in range even when I know there are. Using windows to configure wireless only shows that a network is available, but windows cannot connect. I've tried using F5 to enable/disable and that doesn't help. Only after I attempt to have windows connect and that fails will access "see" the network. I've tried updated my drivers and rolling them back. Please help! :flame:

What's with the latest Access Connections? Did you update to 4.41 already? Latest intel 2915/abg driver also installed: Driver Date: 4/4/2007 | Driver Version: 9.0.4.36 ?

I tried Access 4.41 and had the same problem. I'm not sure what's the latest Intel version. I've used both System Update and Software Update and both show no updates for Intel.

Weird but this has noting to say. Simply check manually for installed driver Version using Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> Intel 2915abg -> Properties -> click Driver Tab.

I have Intel 9.0.25. When I try to update I get a windows warning that the update has not passed XP verification and may make the system unstable. When I installed anyway, I got a windows stop error (bad!). I've now rolled-back that update.

Weird, Driver Version: 9.0.4.36 is definitely signed so that no warning should pop up...unfortunately IBM/Lenovo page is down. When it's up again pls. try to install this version manually.

First uninstall Access Connections (you can keep your profiles) and reboot. Next uninstall your existing wireless driver software, then install the updated version of the wireless driver software. After the wireless driver software is updated, reboot, then you can reinstall Access Connections. You will avoid problems doing it this way.

I was able to download the new adapter from IBM, but when I try to install I get an error saying "access denied". Do I need to uninstall the old version first?

I reworded my post above. I should have read it more carefully before posting. No real errors, just poorly worded.

EDIT: I do believe you need to be logged in as Administator to install this software.

Since you are removing AC anyway, have you tried letting Windows XP manage your wireless connections? It works just fine for me. I don't miss Access Connection.

Well things are somewhat fixed. I removed AC and installed the Intell 9.0.4.33. Still go the error from XP saying the driver wasn't signed but installed anyway and it's working, BUT:

1. Still 30 second delay when resuming from sleep;
2. when I try to "repair" the connection windows says it cannot disable the connection;
3. The IBM website says I should be using version 11.1 (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67100)
although neither system update nor software update indicate that I need to upgrade.
4. When I first installed 9.0.4.33, I would lose signal after d/c AC power. Fized that by unselecting default from the Intel adapter for power management.
