Just installed the beta build 8102.

1. AERO WORKS!
2. No graphics driver as winxp driver is no longer supported. Surprisingly aero still works though.
3. Feels about as fast...

I've used this for about 20 minutes so far. Will chime in with more usage. The MetroUI for tablets doesn't seem that great so far, but I'm thinking I haven't really learned to use it yet. We'll see.

I did the same, but without graphic drivers I find the speed to be very choppy, at least when switching applications or with internet sites that are heavy on graphics. My tablet is maxed out (2GB, SSD) and honestly I find the boot times slower that the Ubuntu Distro I was running before. Shutting down takes ages, and sometimes I even had to force the shutdown.

I tried to use the old X40/x41 tricks for Win7 to get the Intel drivers working, but with no success so far. I will keep trying the next days though...

Looks like Win8 absolutely has no XPDM support at all. I don't think we'll ever see working drivers for this.

Yeah I was afraid of that, maybe somebody finds a way to trick Win8, but with the X4s being quite old hardware I'm not sure if somebody will care

Would official microsoft driver from Windows Update server for GMA900 work on W8?

I used that to get X41 working with W7 and it was legit one, no issues whatsoever.

I have the tablet edition of the x41 with 8 on it, and my wacom pen does not seem to be working properly, any fixes around?

I loaded the latest release a few days ago and the pen works great. I had issues with the tablet buttons, but the drivers from the lenovo support site fixed that.

I'm on build 8400

What about the video drivers? Are you using the standard VESA ones or did you manage to install the Intel drivers?

I've had no luck loading any video driver.

I still have an exclamation over the ACPI in the device manager also, but it seems to hibernate for me when I shut the lid. Oddly enough, I'm not able to add hibernate to the power down options though.

I was about to finally scrap this tablet. I am amazed at how much better it runs on Windows 8 than it did on XP Tablet. I finally decided to replace the battery that was dead and keep this thing for a while longer

I tried the first Windows 8 Dev. Preview a while ago (see here), without the proper drivers the graphic performance was quite poor. I finally gave it up, maybe the new version is better, but I don't think I will try it again

cannot install final version of Windows 8 Pro on X41T

after installation almost completed and reboot (no matter fresh install or "update" from Win7) I'm getting DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ataport.sys)

Anybody had similar experience or solution?

Not sure this will help, but I installed Win8 RP on my daughters T43p and had to load the Vista display drivers from Lenovo to get it to work.

unfortunately I cannot even start Windows 8 to play with drivers, it installs completely but after final reboot crashes with said error.
and it seems to be final version, not RP, may be I shall try different versions...

Win 7 runs like a charm.
