Exchange displays between X61S and X61T
I like the colors on the tablet version, but prefer X61S, since it's lighter and thinner.
So I wonder, is there any possibility to place display from X61T into X61S?

Wait....X61T....nope nope nope. Its got the LCD bonded to the front glass and you CAN'T get it off.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Re: Exchange displays between X61S and X61T
If you've ever heard of the SXGA+ mod for the X60/61 series, that's pretty much it.
If not, here are the highlights:
- The Tablet screen has a protective glass layer. Depending on what screen you have, removing it can range between "doable" and "you're probably a masochist for attempting it". The Boe-Hydis IPS/AFFS screens on the X61T are bonded with some kind of clear adhesive which is very hard to remove, while the Samsung PVA screen uses double-sided tape along the edges.
- The Tablet screen has the same connector as the regular screen, but the pinouts are different. This means you have to make an adapter cable.
- You also need to cut a number of plastic and metal tabs on the Tablet screen, otherwise it won't fit in the lid of the regular X61/X61s.
If you have the SXGA+ screen, you need to flash a modified BIOS.

Re: Exchange displays between X61S and X61T
Thanks everyone!
Maybe there are any IPS XGA displays that's compatible with x61s?
SXGA+ can become a problem with video performance in games for me, while XGA gives a chance to play with suitable FPS. (Yeah, I know that this machine is not for games, but still)

Having owned an X61 for a good number of years, I've researched the IPS mod (and even had a failed attempt), but I've never encountered any resource mentioning an IPS screen that fits into the X61 without any modification.

Re: Exchange displays between X61S and X61T
I don't think he is specifically looking for an XGA screen that's "drop-in" compatible; it seems he just prefers XGA to SXGA+. This is surely possible, as there are definitely XGA IPS screens that were used in X4x/X6x Tablets, and people have used them in mods.

Perhaps that what the OP intended. Still, whether it's SXGA+ or XGA, installing an IPS screen on the X61 requires modifying the LCD cable and removing the mounting tabs.dr_st wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:31 amI don't think he is specifically looking for an XGA screen that's "drop-in" compatible; it seems he just prefers XGA to SXGA+. If the OP's X61s has the Ultralight screen, a standard lid assembly is also required.
