I just purchased a new 4-cell battery for X61. The battery report shows the design capacity at 32000mah, but the current capacity is at 28000mah. I heard resetting the battery will help in this case. But I have Windows 10 installed, the Thinkvantage utility will not run on it. I tried install the Lenovo Vantage and power management driver. But the Lenovo Vantage never able to detect the existance of power management driver.
Can someone help?
Thanks.

Re: Reset Battery on Windows 10 for X61
The best help I can offer on this is to forget about it.
"Resetting" the battery does not magically restore lost capacity. All it does is (sometimes) calibrates the gauge to more accurately replace actual capacity. The same is achieved by simply fully discharging / recharging the battery during normal use.
The latest (or one of the latest) power management driver is available here. It does not explicitly mention X61, but may work.

Re: Reset Battery on Windows 10 for X61
Thanks a lot for the heads up. I have followed the instruction below to install the Lenovo power manager successfully:
viewtopic.php?f=73&t=131019
After I reset the battery, the capacity actually shrunk from 28wh to 21wh according to "powercfg /batteryreport". I am still testing to see if it actually altered the capacity or just change the gauge. My suggestion is not to reset the battery for those who want to try.
Upon further testing, I found the battery run down time remain the same. I found something very strange, the Lenovo Power Manager's battery gauge is actually show different battery percentage to the system's battery gauge. For example, when the Lenovo power meter show 43% remaining, the system's battery gauge is only 30%. Not sure which one to follow.
