I just did a fresh W2K SP4 install on my brand new X60s (1704-5LG). It took me some time to get the audio part working (had to install the Universal Audio Architecture High Definition Audio class driver), but now that too is OK.
I now have one yellow exclamating mark left in Device manager: it's "PCI Device", under "Other devices". When I open its properties, I'm tell its location is: "PCI bus 21, device 0, function 2". Under the Resources tab, I see the memory range used is E4301800-E43018FF and the IRQ is 11.
Any idea what that device could be, so I could supply a driver to it?
Thanks in advance, Dominique

Because *I* am the one who decides what software runs on my computer, not Microsoft, not IBM/Lenovo and not you either. W2K is supposed to be fully supported by Lenovo on the X60/X60s, so I guess I'm entitled to install on my X60s.Saml01 wrote:Why did you install win2k?
I've been using W2K on my 570E (came with Win98, dumped it), then on my X22 (came preinstalled with W2K), then on my X31 (came with WinXP, dumped it) and now I want to run it on my X60s. W2K has been serving me fine for more than 5 years and I haven't found a single reason why I should have been using WinXP instead. Better the enemy you know...

Other devices > PCI Device -> SOLVED!
Glad to report I could identify the unknown "PCI Device" listed under "Other devices" on my fresh W2K SP4 install: it was the "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller", listed under "Secure Digital host controllers" in Device manager. I could install its driver from the \ibmtools\drivers\sdio directory that I borrowed from the original (XP) install.
When comparing the content of Device manager on the original XP install and on my W2K install, I also noticed two differences:
1) I had "PCI device" as one of the three entries under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controller", whereas the original XP install had "Intel 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller". I borrowed the ibmtools\drivers\imsm directory from the original (XP) install and I could install the appropriate driver (iaStor.sys) manually
2) I had both "Bluetooth Audio" and "Bluetooth High Quality Audio" listed under "Sound, video and game controllers" in XP, whereas I only had the former in W2K. I could install the latter manually from the \Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\bin directory (using BtAudio.inf).
So I think my W2K install is now pretty much the same as the original factory-shipped WinXP install, as far as hardware drivers are concerned.
