x60s extended battery vs. x31 extended battery (tilt stand)
x60s extended battery vs. x31 extended battery (tilt stand)
One of the things I love about my x31 thinkpad, is that the extended battery that connects to the adapter on the bottom has a stand that you can flip to prop up and tilt the laptop off the surface you have it on. Considering the ergonomic issues with laptops, i.e. the screen being too close to the keyboard and vice versa, this is a very nice bonus that elevates the screen and tilts the keyboard. (In fact, I would love to be able to extend the screen up, similar to how you would a headrest of a driver seat.)
Does the x60 or x60s with its extended battery have this "stand"?

My previous laptop was an X31 with the extended battery you
describe (I still have the X31 though)
My new one is an X60 with the extended battery as well.
The X60 extended battery does not have the flip out part that
elevates the back of the laptop.
HOWEVER, the shape of the X31 extended battery is fairly flat
with the flip out stand retracted. The X60 extended battery has
the back of it thicker by default.
If I lay the X31 battery (with stand extended) next to the X60
battery the back of the two of them is roughly the same (the X30
is about 1mm higher)
So effectively you get the same tilt, except it is by default.

From my perspective, no. Roughly the same form factor, better
battery life, better performance (I have a duo). I love the
built in EVDO card. Better WIFI performace (I have the Atheros card).
8 cell battery sticking out the back a bit does not bother me.
One negative was the 5400 RPM disk, which I resolved by upgrading
to a 100G 7200 Seagate.
Other negative was having to buy a seperate power brick for the
dock (does not come with one) and the fact that the power brick is
a different voltage/plug form factor than other IBM laptops so If I forget mine while traveling I can't use someone elses.
Very worthwhile upgrade..

Actually the X60 can use the 90 watt ac adapter, also used with T60 and Z61 series.lavoiep wrote: the power brick is
