Why the 1+ month delay from ordering to shipping? Don't other vendors, such as Dell, get laptops delivered in a week? Not that I'm vouching for the quality of Dell laptops, just their order to delivery times.

Both screen options for the X61t had the "may cause 3-4 week delay to shipping time" when configuring... so I guess that's what's holding up production?

The way I see it, quality comes at a price, and I got a great price on my X61t, but it'll take some time for it to get to me... that's just the trade-off with getting newest model during a great sale, I guess. (I didn't order WWAN or Turbo Memory, btw...).

Dell can spit out Inspirons and Latitudes like crazy (or so it seems to those griping over Lenovo's delays); of course, though, lower-quality notebooks are easier easier to produce.

I agree with your comments. However, you would think the supply chain is one glaring disadvantage in IBM/Lenovo's otherwise stellar ThinkPad line, so it is an area they would try to optimize.

Regarding the screen options, isn't the only additional change from the X60 tablet line the use of a direct bonding process resulting in a lighter screen for the Multiview? If so, the Multitouch is established technology so they should be able to take from the X60 tablet stockpike to make X61 tablets.

Even with the exclusion of Turbo Memory you are looking at a month wait.

Ordered X61Tablet today, June 18. Status shows expected shipment of July 19. Looks to me like they just added one month. Got SXGA+ without WWAN, 100GB 7200RPM. I agree that it looks like the displays are the primary issue. When I asked the phone representative if the displays were the problem, I got what seemed like a well practiced reply, "These are brand new models, sir."
