Thoroughly clean a Thinkpad (T60)
Thoroughly clean a Thinkpad (T60)
So I finally found a T60 with flexview (1400x1050) and Swedish keyboard in good condition for a decent price (600kr~$60).
Fully functional and as stated in good condition, but time has made it dirty. Crumbles and dust in every cavity if you look close enough.
The plan is to maybe get a T70 motherboard if it turns out good and I can afford it, but until then I want to thoroughly clean it and I thought I should ask if someone here has some tips?
Take the keyboard of and clean it with compressed air? Alcohol? Soap? Warm water?
Any tips are welcome!

It does look in good condition congrats.
I think compressed air is the best way to go initially before using any cleaning liquids.

Re: Thoroughly clean a Thinkpad (T60)
I don't think that it needs much cleaning on the outside, given what can be seen in the pictures...
I would re-paste the CPU and clean out the heatsink though. As for the keyboard, compressed air should be enough.
My $0.02 only...

Re: Thoroughly clean a Thinkpad (T60)
I don't see anything particularly dirty with this machine. If the palmrest or keyboard wear is bothering you, it is very easy and pretty cheap to swap in new ones.

@MOD, I apologize. I know bandwidth cost money and I do enjoy the forum, so I made a donation. I´ll make sure to post only links to large pictures in the future.
To go even more off topic, I really like the trackpoint buttons on this T60! The only other thinkpads that I have used for a longer period of time are the X230 and another.. lesser thinkpad. Sure the keyboard is majestic, but everyone on the internet already made me aware of that, but nobody said anything about the trackpoint buttons which I find much more distinctive and easy to find with my fingers.
