Issue with X3100 on T61 (Snow Leopard)

#1 Post by azn1art » Mon Feb 21, 2011 5:01 pm

I managed to install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 via Hazard on my T61. Everything works fine. The only issue is that I don't have QE/CI. I tried using the x3100 kexts from 10.6.2 but no luck. I tried booting into 32bit mode but still no luck. Can anyone help me?

Have you set your resolution properly in your boot.plist?

Have you repaired permissions after kext install?

It might take a few tries getting it to work. If you get a black screen at boot just run it in failsafemode with "-x"

/Anders

-Edit-
Btw, it doesn't say QE/CI in my system profile, but hardware acceleration is clearly enabled.

I have 10.6.7 working perfectly on the t61. The video card will only work in 32 bit. But I can select my resolutions etc. I did not need to edit any plists.

What Strings did you use to make it work?

This is the EFI string that I've been using for a while with my T61 w/ X3100. I don't know if it's necessary anymore, but in the past I think it's helped me with screen-not-working issues. I originally got the string from a Leopard or Snow Leopard Kalyway release, I believe.

Code: Select all

On a slightly different topic, I am trying to get sleep working in Lion 10.7.2. Does anyone know if X3100 kexts/EFI-strings affect sleep?

My configuration:
  • x3100 running QE with patched x3100FB kext - to get brightness slider working
EFI string for x3100 (see above) - note: VGA out works great
    removed nullcpupowermanagement kext AND sleepenabler
    no OpenHaltReset
DSDT modded with auto-patcher and some manual fixes (no c or p states though)
    VoodooHDA for audio
sleep (hibernate mode 3 or 1) does not work - i get "wake reason USB3" and it immediately wakes up
sleep (hibernate - mode 1) DOES work - with updated/modded chameleon for the "invalid signature" problem

Does anyone have sleep working on their T61 with Lion? What did you do?

Thanks for the string. I am begining to wonder if I am using the wrong kext files as well.

Happen to have a list? I have everything working but QE (My DVD player works but the movies are all black)
Run the QE app and it says no QE enabled.

Could you post the files and your plist maybe?

thanks

Mike
