recovery CD for Win XP Home - how to get?

#1 Post by llama_thumper » Thu Mar 26, 2009 7:37 am

hi guys,

quick question. my girlfriend has a lenovo 3000 n100 laptop. this has the pre-installed recovery partition, etc...

i would like her to have the recovery cd for win xp home (PL) which is installed on the system. i've gotten in touch with lenovo Poland who've told me to get in touch with their service centre, who have fobbed me off ('burn recovery CD off the recovery partition (?) or order for money with us'). i haven't had a problem obtaining recovery CDs previously from lenovo, in Austria.

so, my question is, where is the obligation for lenovo to provide these recovery CDs? i didn't anticipate a problem. the laptop is still within the warranty period.

any tips appreciated!

Lenovo has no obligation to provide you with recovery CD's. They have provided an application in the list of programs to burn your own set of CD's. If you do not wish to do this, then they do have a right to charge you for disks you order from them. As far as you obtaining free CD's in Austria, they may have a different policy there. Here in the USA it doesn't matter if the computer is within warranty or not, they charge about $45 USD to buy a set of recovery CD's.

Cheers...
