What's with the C and N Series?
What's with the C and N Series?
I guess these arent technically Thinkpads, but I've seen them on the Lenovo site, and on paper at elast they seem pretty price/performance competitive - eg a N100 with Core Duo processor at $900 - comparable to the T and Z series actually. Does anyone know anything about these machines? Are they simply cheaply made versions of the thinkpad lines designed to compete witht the likes of Dell? Do they lack in performance? Do parts fall off?

good deal(?)
From the desciption from the Lenovo site, it seems like a good deal. How many notebook computers have core duo (duo core?) for about $900 (the web price). It says it has 512 meg ram, 1.66 mhz cpu and a 80 gig SATA hard drive. I think it is a good deal; IMO.

(is this the one in question?)

What's with the N and C Series
Yes but what's the catch? There's a reason Dells are as cheap as they are...
I can think of a some (not confirmed):
- Less stringent quality control
- Cheaper internal parts
- Cheaper case materials
- No roll cage
- No HDD shock protection
- Bigger
- Heavier
- Hotter
- Noisier
- Less battery life
- Less warranty
Shall I continue?

I bought a Lenovo 3000 N100 notebook for my computer and it works great. I don't know about these...

But I do not that it is not big, heavy, nor noisy. I think it handles temperature very well. I never realize when the fan is on. The battery life is also pretty good. I'd take it over a Dell any day.
