Managed to destroy my X201 keyboard, what is the next logical step?
So, I don't think it had ever been cleaned, and I gave up on less gentle methods and put it under running water. It is quite clean now, but only the power button works.
I see that "Brand New" X201 keyboards are being shipped from China for a cheap price. Should I just get one of those and just switch the few keys that I need to make it Danish (my locale)? Or is there a better way to go about this?

On occasion I've used running water to clean a ThinkPad keyboard, and as long as I've given it enough time to dry out completely, it has not caused any problems. Maybe a little more time and your keyboard will work again. But, if not, have you tried to find a Danish replacement? It's not very easy to swap key caps, but it is possible.

I already gave it 48 hours, but will give it a few days more.
I did some quick research, and it appears a guy in my area is selling TP keyboards at a reasonable price. Will contact him if mine does not come alive.

The problem is that a laptop keyboard has 2-3 plastic sheets laid on top of each other, and any water that gets in between those layers will take a long time to dry out.

Worst case, it might not even dry out unless you crack open the keyboard and separate those plastic sheets. Good luck putting it back together though.

UPDATE, JANUARY 23, 2020
So, I sort of gave up on this keyboard and started looking around for a new one -- or do the unthinkable and send my trusty X201 off to Valhalla. Then, a few days ago, I decided to give it another try, just for the hell of it ... and it worked. I put it properly back in today and gave it a test, and I don't notice any issues. I think it had to dry for eighteen days, though!

Try heating it up on room heater or in oven set to low temperatures.
Helped me with apparent short of trackpoint RMB
I see that you've dried it by just leaving it on open air, but my advice probably could've sped this process up

I thought it was possible to pry up the keys on classic Thinkpad keyboards? I guess that is supposed to be the more gentle way to clean the keycaps, and IPA would do the job on the base of keyboard I would have thought..

I think the risk of breaking something would be pretty big if I removed every key.
